SINGAPORE (30 August 2013) — Voters from around the world cited The Nam Hai as the top-ranked leisure resort on the continent, according to the results of Smart Travel Asia’s ‘2013 Best in Travel Poll’, released last week.

The 100-villa design hotel in Hoi An won over new fans this year, taking the lead in the ‘Top 25 Leisure Hotels and Resorts’ category, up from 2nd place in 2012. The Nam Hai, a GHM-operated hotel, was also awarded 6th among Asia’s ‘Top 25 Spa Hotels and Resorts’.

Smart Travel Asia’s ninth annual online poll of Asia’s best travel brands took place from May to July of 2013. Participants — approximately 70% coming from Asia, 15% from the UK and Europe, and 15% from North America — said the three most important factors in their choices were use of the product, feedback from friends and brand visibility., a dedicated online travel magazine with over one million readers, said the results were a distillation of its readers’ perceptions and favourite travel brands, with votes based on substantial hands-on travel experience.

Vijay Verghese, editor of Smart Travel Asia, presented the winner’s plaque at GHM’s office in Singapore on 20th August 2013.

Three other GHM properties were lauded among Asia’s best leisure hotels and resorts in Smart Travel Asia’s 2013 poll: The Legian in Bali claimed the 4th spot, The Chedi Chiang Mai was ranked 12th, and The Chedi Club Tanah Gajah in Ubud was elevated to 15th place from 19th last year.
