The building’s total area is 13,700 square metres, including 4,000 square metres allocated for 14 permanent galleries and 400 square metres for temporary exhibitions. The museum is also equipped with infrastructure for 43 digital experiences, a Learning Centre, conservation facilities, an ultra-high definition cinema, and discovery areas for children for a truly immersive experience. 

From historical artefacts to cultural relics, you can view a vast array of objects from different time periods that make up Oman’s rich and exciting history.

  • Tourists: 5.000 OMR

Free entry will be provided for the following groups:

  • Senior Citizens, Senior GCC Nationals, and Senior Residents (60 years and above)
  • Children under 6 years old
  • Students up to 25 years old
  • Organised school and university visits (Free entry for one teacher accompanying every 10 students)
  •  Friends of Oman Museums
  •  Staff of public and private museums in the Sultanate as well as members of ICOM and UNESCO
  •  Special needs visitors (Free entry for one escort)

Opening Hours

The Muscat National Museum is open from Saturday to Thursday, 10:00am – 5:00pm and Friday, 2:00pm – 6:00pm, with the ticket desk closing at 4:30pm and 5:30pm respectively. 

HOW TO GET TO MUSCAT NATIONAL MUSEUM

The National Museum – Sultanate of Oman is located at Wilayat of Muscat, Hillat an-Ni`am, as-Sa`idyyah School Street, opposite Qasr al-Alam Palace.

Simply hop onto the Route 4 Bus which will drop you outside the Palace. Cross the road and you’ll reach your destination.
